Not normally one for sackcloth and ashes but having already lost one NHS colleague to Covid, tonight another friend and Theatre colleague has died in a hit and run incident after finishing work, I’d only spoken to him 3 minutes previously as I began my shift.

The driver has already been found and arrested therefore I’ll not comment further pending the investigation(hence I’ll not give a name), but given his injuries it’s safe to say they weren’t sticking to the speed limit.

RIP mate.

So very sorry to hear of this Chill x
So very sorry to hear this Chilld. I am lost for words except many condolences to his family and friends.
so sorry. on another note, I hate it when people say "things can't get worse" I can see where you are coming from, but I imagine Nemesis sitting in a room rubbing her hands!
Not saying you are full of hubris BTW, and I really am sorry about your friend :(
Young people being killed in car crashes is nothing to do with Covid. When I was teaching, many years ago, one of my students and 3 others were all killed when their car smashed into a wall. I always think of it when I go past the place. There have been similar stories in the press on a fairly regular basis. It’s to do with being young I’m afraid.
Childoubt, this is a truly awful incident. That link is very confusing as it says there was a collision, and a 'casualty' is in hospital. I hope he has survived and the link is correct.
Report was later updated, perhaps the initial report was too soon.

Awfully sad.

Very very sorry to hear this tragic news hope they throw the book at whoever it was. So very very sorry x
My condolences to you, CD & to his family & friends.
as people ih Hospital will be saying:
throwing the book at the driver wont bring the dead back ....
That is tragic news, this sort of thing makes me so angry. Some waste of space fleeing from the cops kills an innocent nurse.
My condolences to you, CD & to his family & friends.
So sorry to hear this, may he rest in peace.

The current rumour mill(very strong given that we have colleagues whose siblings work elsewhere in the Emergency Services) is that the person responsible is a 32 year old drunk driver with a revoked licence.
He has left a widow with a 3 year old daughter whilst 4 months pregnant(she works as a pathologist) to grieve for her husband, our colleague.

I was never a vindictive nor spiteful person initially, however life and my work has taught me that tragedy is never fair.

To that end, I can honestly say that I wish the driver suffers a slow but aggressive throat cancer, because that is he only thing that will negate his actions and assuage our thirst for vengeance.
C’est la vie, I and all my colleagues feel the same, we are what we are.
We see death and suffering regularly, usually from people who do not deserve it.

This one most certainly does.
I don't judge you for feeling that way Chill. So sorry to read this and thanks for all you and your colleagues are still doing in theatre.
How awful, and what a shock that must be. So sorry xx
This has been in my mind so often today, Chill..... I am so sorry to read your latest post...x
A tough call chilli, particularly being a friend and colleague.
I learned at average early time in my career not to become emotionally involved, but with a close friend or colleague particularly if you know the family, it is difficult.
Difficult time.
Sincere condolences, ChillDoubt.

Don't let the *** get you down.
