Mrs A has congestive heart failure, and has swollen ankles, legs, thighs, and abdomen. Weight up 11kg in 6 months.

The two diuretics a day don’t seem to have much effect.

The surgery doesn’t seem very interested in an elderly woman not suffering from covid. Very casual, very vague.

What can we do? Both of us are becoming desperate.

All best wishes to you and Mrs A. Pain-free would be a blessing.

Mrs A spoke to the GP who confirmed that all her body enlargement was definitely oedema and not growths, so one thing crossed off.

He agreed that she should see her cardio consultant asap, and the soonest she can get a private appointment is a fortnight.

Oddly, yesterday she started urinating ‘strongly’, so either the diuretics have at last kicked in or her missing her metformin has caused something. Her blood glucose is still 8s or 9s, so fairly well controlled.

Fingers crossed, and thanks again for your support.

Allen, we don't often see eye to eye but, that aside, I am truly warmed by your concern and love for your wife, she is a very lucky lady to have you and I sincerely hope she can get some comfort soon.
That's good to hear, try to get her to accept a bit of help, maybe if it was help for you to free up your time to care for her.

Thanks for your kindness.

As she appears to have had a good diureses ( lots of urine) is oh definitely taking all her medication ?
Sincerely hope that the consultant can help. Keep positive Allen. Best Wishes.
So sorry to hear about your wife allen. I bet she's glad she has you.
I'm glad that all GP surgeries are not as you describe re Covid.I rang my surgery at 8.15am to book telephone consultation and Doc rang me at 11am.

Anne. She takes (bar metformin) all her meds, and does regular obs (glucose, O2, pulse, etc).

That’s why she skipped the metformin (blood glucose 7 to 9 even without metformin).

But we can’t control her childhood rheumatoid arthritis or her inherited ‘Hokum’ heart disease...
