Our family tried it for the first time last year, its the best thing we've done, less stress and mess, more quality time spent opening presents with the grandchildren and a much more relaxing day all round..
For years my ex and I missed out on so much because it was always a day spent in the kitchen for us, one of our grown up daughters suggested it last year and we all took a vote to try it out, its the best thing we've ever done, we toyed with it for years but were always too afraid of change, what do you think?

Yes. The best thing ever. It makes for a very relaxed Christmas day and lots of time to spend with the kids. OH spent lots of his childhood in Germany where it's tradition to put up the tree on a Christmas Eve and then enjoy Christmas dinner. We used to open one present each on Christmas Eve to make it fun for children. No cooking at all on Christmas day. A long walk...

Chips and gravy are manna from heaven I'll have you know …
Back in the day when Dad used to cook Christmas dinner, the turkey was always ready on Christmas Eve and it was hot turkey butties for supper - heaven! Full roast turkey dinner on Christmas Day and a full roast dinner on Boxing Day, but with pork instead of turkey. Never liked the pork, it was always too fatty. And always without fail turkey and stuffing butties to take home with us on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Happy, happy days indeed.
Boxing Day for me has to be bubble and squeak with cold gammon and turkey and and assortment of pickles. I enjoy that more than Christmas dinner. I always have a party with drinks and nibbles on Christmas morning so everything for the meal is prepared on Christmas Eve even down to part cooking the roast potatoes- Delia Smith's recipe- it works a treat
Thats exactly what we do on Boxing day Margo. I still have your recipe on cooking your way with the gammon.
The day after Boxing day we always have Turkey and Cranberry curry (schwartz recipe) and then if no meat left on the carcase we boil it for soup stock.
