I have a small garden and have read that earth from molehills is good to use for gardening. There are lots and lots of mole hills in several of our local parks. Can I remove earth from them, or is it illegal?
Thank you in advance.

The soil isnt so great from a molehill, it is made up of poor subsoil, it just looks good because it has been finely ground, certainly no better than any other top soil. as for removing it from parks etc. Im sure it could be seen as theft but I expect the ground keeper would be happy for you to remove it, but really not worth the bother.

Molehill earth can contain listeria which is why farmers try their best to eridicate moles.
It probably wouldn't be a problem for what you want to use it for but when a farmer cuts grass for silage and there are mole hills there, the soil will be uplifted within the grass and will be eaten by the stock, thus ingesting listeria.
