I keep a magnet in my sewing box and it seems less effective than it was. Does anyone know how I can remagnetise it? TIA.

It is a horseshoe magnet but at the moment I don't have any way of telling what is north or south. Will have to work that out.
...and, if all else fails, buy a new/some new ones. I can really recommend neodymium magnets....very strong for their size and remain strong (unlike ferrite, which weaken over time).
Huge choice on Amazon (and probably Ebay).

If you have an old computer disc lying around that you don't want, open it up and take the magnets out (a pair of kidney-shaped things on the edge of the platters). They are incredibly powerful magnets.
They are the best magnet you can get.. Neodymium magnets. If you haven't got a hard drive to get them from, you will find loads on eBay
The only problem with the neodymiums is that if you let them stick together you have a job to get them apart.
