A member of our golf club who died in 1994 told me that a secluded part of the course was used during WW2 by the army, where soldiers were shown the correct technique for throwing hand grenades. He knew that because he was one of the soldiers. Live ones were used on many occasions, some of which failed to explode. He said the army never came back to clear them up. I often wondered how true that was. The only thing that's blown up on the course these days is my game. BOOM!
