Best Actor?

In my humble opinion I think Nicholas Cage just has to be the, or at least one of the best actors we've ever had. He can act in any genre - romantic, comidy, tough guy, and I don't reckon he's had the recognition he deserves. He's not the only good actor, obviously. There are plenty of maybe better actors in one particular genre, but overall I think he's the best, bearing in mind his range of acting abilities.
I like John Wayne, but in all honesty I don't think anyone can call him an ACTOR; he's John Wayne in a cowboy, military or naval outfit. I can't ever see him playing a tender love scene, more like fetch her a wallop then leave the room as if his colostomy bag's exploded.
Nah, for me Nicholas Cage's head and shoulders above anyone else.

I always thought that Christopher Lee is a pretty good actor.He's proved over the years that he can play other parts rather than just horror.

You can tell a good actor when the character takes over and you forget the star. Tom Hanks, Kevin Spacey and Edward Norton can play complex characters in different situations and still remain believable. Hanks in Road to Perdition was a revelation as was Spacey in The Usual Suspects and Norton in Primal Fear. Cage is good , others are better.

I sit up and take notice of every film Johnny Depp is in - he is just so adaptable, and he isn't afraid to look bad either (difficult I know!), nor does he need top billing which I quite like.

Tom Cruise in Topgun....what?

Mr Cruise has got better over the years the earlier stuff was a bit pants, ie topgun. More recent thing like Magnolia and Vanilla Sky he has been brilliant in.

Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins, he obviously spent many hours in voice coaching to be able to replicate such an accurate cockney accent!!
