A bit stressful.
Been with Scottish power for more years than I know. They moved me to another tariff a while ago that was ok. Then they have just said I have to have a smart meter. I declined. They can't offer me another cheap tariff, only one that will cost me £200 more per annum. I told them no thasnk you and I was going to switch suppliers.
Went on compare or something. Best I could come up with was Octopus.
It's costing me 50p a month more and no smart meter.
Has anyone used this company please.

I have had a terrible time with Scottish Power, it is now 6 months since I reported the problem and the matter is now with the Ombudsman. Due to a faulty meter my monthly bill has tripled and they have still not inspected or changed the meter. My contract was supposed to end two weeks ago but without my knowledge or consent they changed it to a different tariff 3 months ago and now doesn't end for 15 months, they haven't sent me any agreement.

I can't recommend Scottish Power
Why against smart meters ? Well off the top of my head it means control of your supply will pass to the company. Also anything passing data can be cracked by mischief makers or those with more evil intent. No one should demand this, no one should want it inflicted on them.
control of your supply is already with the company
PS pug, I can give you a code if you want to change and we can both get the benefit?
OG, the law hasn't changed. If the supplier wants to cut off or restrict your supply they have to get a court order. They cannot alter the terms of your contract without your express permission - if they insist you are free to change supplier without penalty.

You are scaremongering and spreading fake news.
Thanks Bedbnobs, will let you know, pa is looking into it more.
/// control of your supply is already with the company ///

But nowhere near as selectively as Smart Meters provides.
selectively? They can apply for a court order to cut you off whether you have a smart meter or not
Canary, how does the supply differ if you have a smart meter?
and if you don't pay and they want to change you to pre-payment, the only difference is they can do it remotely rather than have to apply for a warrant to enter your property to change it. They still have to go through the same checks and communications
