This is one of the best series ever. The children are amazing. They know so much about life. Dealing with birth and death.

agree, i have only caught some of the programme, but they are a fine family,
mum described how she gave birth on her own, said it was a piece of cake or words to that effect, incredible.
It is a wonderful programme and those children are incredible. When I was fifteen, I went on holiday to a farm in mid-Devon. My parents had stayed there and they thought it would be a good idea for me to experience rural life. I loved it from the start and continued to holiday there with a wonderful family until 1991. We were friends from the start and I learnt so much about farming and rural life. I learnt how to milk cows, drive tractors, helped at lambing and much more. That all started from a visit in the late 60s. I have been to Devon every year since and I stayed in touch with the farmer and his wife when they retired into the village. Sadly, they both passed away over the last five years, but I have kept in touch with their children. For me, life on the farm was wonderful and I gained a real love for the countryside. Farming is hard and it taught me to have a respect for farmers, who work all year round to keep us fed. I have to say that I find the programme very emotional as it brings back so many happy memories.
Its great to actually see children out in the fresh air and yes i do understand that there isnt places for them to go to on their doorstep. They are bringing their children up by involving them in everyday farming life, thats births and deaths which is part of it but by allowing them to learn and give them jobs on the farm. I think its a brilliant show and long may it continue
i too think from what i have seen they are giving the children a great life.
This series makes me smile...such a wonderful upbringing for the children. I am currently reading the first of 3 books Amanda has written about her life and how she met Clive etc....lovely book
