I'd like to think this is good news but do you think it's a drop in the ocean?

Thought it was already in place.
Yes it is a drop in the ocean. But, you have to start somewhere so get going with the low hanging fruit like carrier bags and straws.

If nothing else it gets the message across.
Every little helps.
Haven't they been banned to stop them being dropped in the ocean?

I haven't bought straws in years and the ones I do have go in the recycling bin. I switched to paper cotton buds a few years back as well.

Yes bhg ;o))

It's large populated countries like India and China that need to get on board with this as well. Not sure if they do or not.
I know its not ideal but in Hampshire all the collected non recyclables are closed incinerator burnt. The energy is used and the air goes out cleaner than it went in.
When I was about 5 years old I fell and bit through my top lip which had to be stitched. To keep my lip as dry as possible I had to drink everything through a straw; only paper straws were available 70 years ago. Drinking cold drinks was fine but warm drinks melted the glue in the straw which steadily fell apart. It could take several straws to drink one cup of tea.
I agree with the war on plastics, but feel the supermarkets could do more. For the past few weeks, my eggs that usually come in a cardboard container which I can recycle, have been coming in plastic containers. perhaps I should ask them why?
Every journey begins with a single step, I use stainless steel straws, I agree about the egg boxes now more and more seem to be plastic.

No good for recycling or children's craft work.
Barsel - public knowledge, this has been due to Covid supply shortages. They should still be fully recyclable though, check the packaging.
Ok - will do.
