we got a brick wall 1 meter height around the garden. The street goes around the garden so anyone walking on the street see inside the garden. Although there are big trees by the wall in some places there are gaps. How do you screen the garden apart from filling the gaps with hedges etc which would take ages to grow? Needs to be solved asap. Any ideas please ??Not too costly .

Reed screening , the stuff you buy in a roll? Quite cheap and could be attached to the trees if possible, it's light and doesn't need much support. Because it's light it tends to be less overpowering than a solid fence but would still give you the privacy you require.
Sorry, just seen it's discontinued buy Wilko but other p[laces sell it!
B&Q do reed screening, 2 metres high, and inexpensive:

My son had this problem and solved it with Laurel bushes. They grew fairly quickly. I think there are height regulations for having solid fencing etc. on a garden bordering a street?
Bamboo makes a quick growing screen but you need to restrict root spread by planting it in pots or buy a clump forming variety.
You might try looking into "Hazel fencing" for a natural look.
Unless planning legislation has changed in the last 10 years, planning permission would be required for a boundary enclosure adjoining a highway if it is more than 1 metre high. Best to check with the Local Planninig Authority.
