Hi One of our dogs has eaten some WHite chocolate. My fault leaving it low!

approx 50g or Even less.

The ingredients are:
: Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Dried Whole Milk, Emulsifier (Sunflower Lecithins), Flavouring.

All I’ve read online seems to suggest that white chocolate is unlikely to harm the guilty Canine but wondered if anyone on here knows a bit more.

The guilty culprit is MOST likely to be the Labrador (approx 32kg)

Maybr (but highly unlikely)the staffy x beagle (approx 22kg)

Or maybe (unlikely) the Mixed terrier (about 8kg)

The lab is a glutton who will eat anything in sight !

Ps I know dark / “normal” choc can be deadly for dogs obv but not white
Can you call an emergency vet service and ask them
PDSA usually had emergency coverage
Question Author
Yup thing is I usually am very cautious with anything edible being at grabbing height but leave the room for a moment and....

I BET it’s the darn Labrador!

I’ll be watching them well tonight

Yeah pdsa is a good idea to call.

Our staffy x has insurance
The lab is a recent addition (rescue) and his insurance starts on 1 oct!
The wee terrier rascal is not ours but spends a lot of time here (best friends with the lab lol... little and large)
White chocolate is very unlikely to cause harm to the dog.
From Blue Cross web site “white chocolate does not contain enough theobromine to cause toxicity”
"White chocolate contains harmful cocoa butter, sugar and milk but only tiny amounts of toxic theobromine. Emergency vets have confirmed white chocolate is highly unlikely to poison a dog, even if it is labelled as being high in cocoa solids.12 Mar 2018"
I know what you mean about Labrador's ( very greedy dogs ). When I walk our choc lab she is like one of those truffle hunting pigs that they have in France, snout permanently to the ground hunting for any titbit that someone may have dropped.

Thanks all. Ty for reassuring with what u guys found. I found similar info online but gd to know others are finding the same sorta info
The baddie in chocolate is theobromine which is in the cocoa bean. White chocolate isn't actually chocolate, but has cocoa butter in it, and contains little theobromine. So the culprit should be ok. Maybe an upset tummy from sugar...
I answered without realising I was late...oh well, I confirmed what everyone else said ;)
there aren't enough threads that have theobromine in every second post...
