"Critics said the child's pose was "provocative" and life-threatening.
Some pointed out that the driver would not be able to see the child in that pose, leaning on the grille." - derr it's an advert! Perlease!

People say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so is pornography. If a child eating a banana leaning against a car is considered provocative, I suggest the fault lies with the viewer, not the picture.

The image came from this page on Audi's website:

https://www.audi.de/de/brand/de/neuwagen/a4/rs-4-avant.html

On that page, the image is fine.

Then somebody from Audi's social media marketing team took that one image from the page, slapped a "Lets your heart beat faster - in every aspect." slogan on it, and used it as an ad on Twitter. As an ad, it's rubbish. It makes no sense, which is why people have gone looking for meaning in it and reached their dodgy conclusions.
Iluvmargie LOL! I think there are a few dirty old men on this thread to be honest.
No ILM. We are discussing the so called provocativeness of the girl eating a banana. You obviously agree with them because you suggested an alternative. So who is the one with the 'dirty mind'?
AuntPolly, you may be right but its a weird old world out there and oodles upon oodles of facebook pages and youtube channels dedicated to videos of 'girls eating bananas' exist. If they don't know that, and they can't see potential provocation in the ad, they are either lying or guilty as charged.
I won't be drawn ken, my remark was totally innocent, I repeat YOU have a dirty mind!

Mmm you could be right APG …

I agree with Vulcan. There are some worryingly warped minds out there.
The last two paragraphs of the article sums it up:

And DjBeeTee tweeted: "Let's add it up: Red=eroticism, sports car=substitute for potency, animal print mini-skirt=sex appeal, banana=phallic symbol. But sure this is all just accidental..."

However, Mark Kreuzer, an engineer and blogger, tweeted: "Hmm, well for me the message is: Audi RS4 = family car. Just as your own daughter makes your heart beat faster, so does the RS4. And both are of course cool."
ILM; So you agree with me then. You also saw nothing wrong with the ad?
Trevorthepug. I do hope you stick around this website when you disappear to the US. Your clear and concise comments cut through a lot of crap.

Salut!

Allen
I look on the majority of TTT's posts as nothing short of pornographic

For once your eagerness to pounce upon practically every word I say has paid off. You’re right. There are some incredibly dirty minds on here too.
And they still got an apology. That'll encourage them.
Funnily enough, I happened to have posted a thread entitled "Men Who Hate Women"
https://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Society-and-Culture/Question1719805.html
a week or so back, which those interested in women being exploited might usefully look at.

A
Sorry, Allen. I've got no interest in exploiting women. But thanks anyway.
