I recorded this film last night and the information said it was the 2002 version with Jamie Bell, Jim Broadbent, Tom Courtney and Alan Cumming. Just started watching it and it is the 1947 version with Cedric Hardwicke, Derek Bond, Sally Ann Howes, Bernard Miles and Sybil Thorndike. Good film in its own right but what a disappointment.

where did you get the information? I looked it up in the Radio Times (before not watching it) and it made clear it was the older version.

On my Virgin Planner it says 2002 version with Edward Fox and the other actors mentioned. Recorded it on channel 5Select and when I played it it is the 1947 version but still shows cast etc for 2002 version.
See it as a stroke of luck rather than a disappointment. You watched the better version by accident.

I'm old enough to have already seen the 1947 one. Was looking forward to seeing another version. Have left it on my wishlist on the planner so maybe it will come up another time.
