In February 2019, an Orthopaedic Consultant said that I needed a total hip replacement urgently.
At the pre-op assessment, it was discovered I had something wrong with my heart and this led to Echo test and MRI scan. As a result, the anaesthetist advised against hip operation and I have been in constant pain ever since - I cannot tolerate some of the medications advised by GP. Has anyone else experienced this scenario and have eventually had the operation?

Apparently I can't have this either! I, personally, can't understand this. I have to say I do wonder how complex heart operations are carried out on people who have heart problems!
Hazlinny.

Now, this depends on whether, like me, you’re very open-minded, or whether you’re dedicated to Western medicine.

Earlier this year I was in such pain from my hip that I couldn’t get into bed.

My physiotherapist gently suggested giving Pranic Healing a try, distant Pranic Healing at that. No instant relief, but three months later my hip is back to normal. I don’t care if it is placebo, it has worked for me.

The conventional medical folk on here will undoubtedly dismiss this as anecdotal nonsense. But to bend Galileo’s words, “And yet it doesn’t hurt.”
From what you have said,I agree with all the previous posters except perhaps allenlondon lol.
You cannot live your life in constant pain in 21th century medicine.
See your Orthopaedic surgeon again.
Also ask for second opinion re options
I really hope you get your hip replacement Hazlinny. It's like a miracle when you have had it done.

Thank you all for your comments - yes, I think I have to pursue the matter with Orthopaedic people though I am told it is the Anaesthetist
who is not happy about operation going ahead.
My husband has multiple respiratory and heart failure issues . He has had both his and knees replaced using Epidural injections. I too know the pain of chips needing total replacements.. see a different consultant ..
