When I first start it from cold it seems to run very lumpy and cuts out unless I keep my foot on the accelerator, when it warms up it seems to run fine although, it has stalled a couple of times slowing at junctions, I was told it may need a software update, done at a Peugeot dealership, I would of thought a 2007 would of been a bit old for that, any ideas please.

Diesel or petrol?
Question Author
Petrol bhg its also been on a diagnostic machine and shown 'no faults'
I was hoping it was a diesel and then I could have suggested glow-plugs.
It's 20 years now since I last owned a petrol car but "mucky plugs" was a favourite cause of lumpy running, as was the points. I suspect the diagnostic machine would have identified a faulty engine temperature sensor but engines have moved on so much since I last had problems that most of the things that gave problems back then have been made more robust so I can't think of any other suggestions offhand. Sorry.
When I had similar problems with a Vauxhall it required a replacement coil pack
sounds like auto choke isn't working.

Would any of these problems show up on the diagnostic machine?
Unlikely unless the engine management light has been on.
Question Author
No engine management light has not been on.
It's not necessary for the engine management light to come on before problems will show up on a diagnostic check. A couple of years ago at a routine service they commented that the diagnostic check had shown problems with one of the glow plugs since they know I keep the car in a garage they thought it wasn't worth doing anything about it. A year later another plug was also showing problems at the diagnostic check so I had them replaced. The engine management light never came on.
This is a petrol engine though, different kettle of fish to a diesel.
Yes, I was simply pointing out that a diagnostics machine can show up problems which don't cause the engine management light to come on.
