I have asylum seekers in one of our rented properties. I felt sorry for them and let them have the property at the Housing Benefit cap for this area -pathetically low -but they were desperate. Two years on they are now cocky, with a deep sense of entitlement, fuelled by the lefties in the refugee support team. They have a lovely house refurbed in 2018. Now they want a new kitchen, and a walk in shower instead of a bath (religious purposed apparently). Considering they were in a tent in a refugee camp with no running water for 6 months they should be grateful of a lovely semi with gardens front a rear and costing them not a penny.! So no I would not offer up a room to refugees under any circumstances.
A classic case of once bitten, twice shy. Your story should serve as a timely warning.
They will never be satisfied.
