Strange. Is it Fred & Rose West's old gaff?

Various reasons I would imagine. School playgrounds where children are playing / MOD sites etc etc. Are you talking about a specific location?

Yes, Our home!

Our house is quite screened anyway. You can only see a long drive and a garage.
Is it deliberately screened out or is it just on the junction of two pictures?

Deliberately screened out!

You now cannot see any further than the gate and high hedge.

I am wondering what we were up to in the drive!! It was last summer, I know because we have new neighbours and I can see up their drive. They have done a lot of alterations to the garden.
I live on a private development just off a main dual carriageway and Google won't turn off the main road to come to us either - I have to make it go round the next turning and view from a distance over a wall.

They have gone up our road and past our house and the other three houses haven't been blocked out. There is a definite square grey patch strategically placed. Nothing to do with two shots merging.

Ah, I found this

/Google Maps Street View captures buildings, people and more as it maps the world. When the tech giant wants to protect privacy it will blur out people's faces and personal details such as number plates and house numbers./

Thank you Bookbinder.
Apc, you're welcome. I've sometimes asked myself the same question.

The funny thing is they have also blocked up a small section of our very tall and long front hedge. There are no footpaths in front of it, just a ditch. I really can't understand that.
It is possible for anyone to request sections of street view to be blocked out if they have good reason so possibly one of your neighbours or opposites have done so

It's just our house Fitzer. There are only four houses where I live and our entrances are far apart. We live on a fairly busy road, but out in the sticks. The car is parked too far down the drive from the gates to see the number plates from the road. I can only assume we were on the drive . Why they blocked out a portion of our hedge in another area beats me. You can only see the roof of our house from the road. Perhaps they know I am someone famous who needs privacy (not)!
