Three interesting facts in the current issue:-

If you are under the age of 35 you are more likely to die in a road traffic accident than from the corona virus.

There are currently 118 countries the Foreign Office now advises against ‘all but essential travel’ to because of ‘unacceptably high risk’ from Covid-19.

There are only 2 countries with a higher number of deaths from Covid-19 than the UK.

Pedestrians make up a significant percentage of those killed in road traffic accidents – they don’t have a metal box surrounding them, providing a degree of protection.
//But it is most unlikely that you will pass on the cause of death to somebody else.//

Very true. So how long do you propose we keep those who are under 35 and among the 9 million currently off work and being paid by the taxpayer, in that state?
>If you are under the age of 35 you are more likely to die in a road traffic accident than from the corona virus.
I'm sure that's true but it's irrelevant. People under 35 can pass it on and infect family, friends, work colleagues, the local community. What do you think it shows? Does it make the 50000 or so UK deaths any less concerning?

As for the useless stat restrictions on travel, have you considered that current data on infections in Barcelona, Madrid, France, etc may be more relevant than the number of deaths in say care homes here last April
Not driving lowers your chance of dying in an RTA. This is especially true of younger people. As a pedestrian I’m guessing age doesn’t matter so much apart from I guess older people may injure more and would be slower to react and get to safety. Still not sure how any of that relates to risk of getting COVID.
I have always enjoyed Private Eye since I first saw it 45 years ago. The magazine has not become more left wing. Hislop (its editor) is conservative in attitude and not one to switch in his fifties.
Anyone thinking the Eye has changed, is actually suffering from their own moral compass veering more Rightwards to the current Governments.
There were 1,784 deaths on the roads last year.
There have been 47,000 corona deaths in the last 4 months.
You’d have to be really thick to dispute the fact in the OP and PE.
How many of the 1,784 were under age thirty-five?
How many of those who have died from Covid-19 were under age thirty-five?
The UK is forty-eighth when looking at the number of cases per head of population but as with the number of deaths, the figures are cummulative and do not reflect the current rates.
If you are under 35 don’t self isolate by driving round in your car is the message here I think.
