I ran through an airport a while ago and when I had the temperature guage pointed at my forehead, I failed big time. Luckily, the staff had the sense to point it at my wrist and I was OK to go. That was on another continent though. God knows what would happen in this country though as most jobsworths haven`t the wherewithal to think outside of the box.
//It’s an idiotic requirement anyway//
Of course it is. Quite how untrained people using possibly unreliable equipment can draw any useful conclusions from somebody with a temperature slightly different to normal is anybody's guess. Still must "do something, eh." Better to be safe than sorry, don'tcha know.

//NJ, where's the evidence the folk are untrained or that they are using possibly unreliable equipment?//
There is none. It is a supposition and one which I reckon is more likely than not to be at least half correct. Even if I am completely wrong and the exercise is undertaken by trained medics with reliable kit, what conclusions can be drawn and to what purpose?
