Woke up Tuesday morning with a very sore foot. Slightly swollen. No idea what caused it. It got worse during the day. I could pin point the actual place where the soreness was. On the side of my foot just above the instep. But the pain spread all over my foot and partly up my leg.
By yesterday I was really in pain. Decided to go to A&E. saw triage nurse first then someone higher. She thought it was tendonitis. X-rays no use as they only show Bones and not tissue. She suggested I get some Ibuprofen.
She said ice cubes could reduce the swelling. I tried that but so painful I couldn't stand it. By now foot is so swollen and red.
The pain was so bad I told OH if it couldn't be cured I would prefer amputation.
Luckily the tablets have started to work. Pain still bad but not as bad as before. Not looking forwards to my Lidl trip tomorrow!

Sorry to hear. Good that the tablets are finally helping though.
If it gets worse rather than continues to settle down then contact GP surgery.

Take care Caran. x
Don't go to Lidl tomorrow.

Is your foot hot to touch?
Sore feet are as bad as toothache in my book.

I hope you get it fixed and fast.
Toothache is far worse.

Yes Ummmm, it has been quite hot to touch but it so much now.
...in your opinion.
Sounds like, acute gout and good advice from the triage nurse.
You fail to give the dose of Ibuprofen that you taking, iwhat ever it is........double it.
Monitor the situation over the weekend.
IF you feel that you are up to going to Lidl.?...then go.

Thank you Sqad.
I've had foot pain that made me cry. I've never had toothache that bad.
Good to see Sqad has not lost faith in his panacea.
// Toothache is far worse.//
well then she doesnt have toothache in her foot
jesus
sounz like typical gout
at some point or another you should see your GP and get a serum urate ( around 2021 - that is the year not the time ! ter daah !)

in the acute phase - ibuprofen as above - rememebr to take ranit or lansop for your stomach. and paracetamol
and rmember to take a loading dose of paracetamol at the start.

oh and put your foot up higher than your pelvis

and get your family to wait on your hand and foot

and remember that systemic symptoms - fever and malaise ( yes like covid ) do occur

[Got this in the last week in Feb in Egypt - all the egyptian servants thought I was gonna DDDDIIIIIIEEEEE! because the whites had started dying on other boats ( and they talked to each other))
sounds exactly like GOUT

PP
Some people have high uric acid levels, but never experience gout. And some people have signs and symptoms of gout, but don't have unusual levels of uric acid in their blood.
Pretty much a waste of time in GP.
