i am having some problems with a company charging me 22.50p for sending me a letter to say i have missed a payment. i have been paying a debt off since 2002 of 200 pounds and i have so far paid over a thousand with 300 left because i have paid charges and interest off. as you can imagine it is really getting to me. i am looking at trying to confront them but not sure if i have a leg to stand on. how can they justify a letter charge of that amount. please help.

Banks are currently having to back down and make refunds over that sort of rip-off. However challenging them successfully needs the right sort of wording in your letters. Makle time to go and see someone at your local Citizens Advice Bureau.

I would also ask them if there are other things you can challenge because the money you have paid back should have got you clear by now.
that doesn't sound like a bank to me...

unfortunatly it is a finance company where you pay monthly installments. you know the type. i was pretty nieve when i bought something off them and cant seem to shake them off. thanks for the advise marsh.
You should contact citizen's advice - some cases like yours have been thrown out of courts here in Ireland, with the contracts nullified. If it can happen here, it can happen in the UK - you're in Europe too.
Actually - I've changed my mind on my advice. Is there a Credit Union near you? You should join and they'll loan you the settlement figure so that you can clear your debt. That's partially what they're set up for. Probably the fastest way out of this for you
