Bednobs I see you were asking about dogs in rescue centres. Does this help? They have Terrier Rescue, Staffie Rescue, plus other breed categories. You don't pick the dog, they do, which is how it should be. They choose one to suit your lifestyle as their priority is the dog. If you want to pick your own dog then this rescue is not for you. I've fostered for them and also adopted two smashing little JRT's. I have to say they chose well for me.
Scroll down a bit for the different category of dog. I see they are doing well as they have far fewer dogs than usual, which is good.

our dogs have previously been a collie cross with Alsatian, a goodness know what who was a little bit smaller and a collie puppy (not rescue). who was quite big for a collie with very long legs (no pedigree but we saw both her parents).
Problem is, a collie would suit us much less now I suppose - even though they're the only dogs worth having :) as we now live in an urban area and no longer run the flyball club (and incidentally don't have any sheep!)
I see that rescue has an on a lead for life policy too which is a shame for a collie IMO
'on a lead for life' policy ??
yes, I think it means they must not come off the lead on walks
I'm afraid I would totally ignore that, I've never heard anything like that before. She needs to run and play like all dogs do.
Both collies at my local rescue are labeled as having guarding issues..and they are only 1 year and 4.5 months old.

With our previous collie i sometimes used to find myself in the kitchen with no real idea how our why till i noticed I'd been herded!
Ermm...easily lead?? ;)
I know, right! She knew what she wanted. She's trained her new owner to take her on six walks a day!
