I just had a recorded message saying that it was forwarded from BT informing me that my internet connection would be terminated today - asked me to press 1 to fix. I didn't press 1 as I suspected it was a scam. Any thoughts?

thoughts ?
knowledge --- deffo scam

old scam but clearly still raking the moolah in
If you press 1 on any of these calls you immediately start paying for the call at a very high premium rate. If you give them your card details they will charge you upwards of £200 for 'fixing' it. Whenever you hear 'press 1' on a recorded message just hang up.
thanks Jackie
I thought prews 1 for a diversion to a skilled scammer who would wheedle out your acct details whilst pretending to be a very concerned rep

no I have never tried pressing - one
That's right, PP, but also you start paying for the call at the same time.
eek - can you imagine
St Peter for it is he and that is where you are

Thanks everyone. I suspected as much
My MIL gets these calls, she's 87 and she wouldn't know the internet from a cabbage!
AH, are you implying that it is because of her age?
I haven't had one of those from BT, just "my internet provider". Suffice to say I haven't been cut off, even when they reckoned there was illegal activity - whatever that's supposed to mean!
