Does Anyone Know How To Change The Background

picture on the pc, not the main one, but when i open out e mail, a picture is there that i can't seem to change. i have gone into personalised display, but it remains.
does this make any sense.

i had a friend try and she can't find a way to do it either.

its the e mail background picture, we have tried to put a blank or blue back ground but nothing she or i have tried has worked.

You mean GMail? Click the settings cog, top right, then click 'theme'

If you scroll down the themes you find plenty of plain blue - just click on one then click 'save'.

I am, of course, referring to the settings cog in GMail.

nope nothing i have tried, and believe me i have clicked on settings, themes but nowhere does it say how to change the e mail background picture.

That's very odd. I just changed mine half a dozen times without problem

Can you post a screenshot of what your screen shows when you click - settings - themes?

You are trying to change it in GMail and not in Windows?

It works ok for me too. Just click on Settings, then Themes, then Set Theme, then select a picture from the list that comes up.

not working, i can set the opening screen in windows, picture of brother and son, fine, but click on icon for mail, and its shows a picture i can't find a way to change. Have clicked on the cog, settings, then theme, then nothing.. My friend who is a bit of a whizz on computers couldn't find out how to do it.

emmie, you must be in GMail to change the background. Log in to GMail here https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?hl=en-GB#inbox and then click the settings cog at the top of that page.
