well deserved in every respect.
I’m pleased she is knighting him, very fitting
I doubt anyone could argue with that.
Wonderful! It honours not just him, but that entire generation, who just got on with it.
Brilliant!

I'll bet she shakes his hand.
Fantastic news and well deserved.

Isn't he a Colonel now?
Smashing news.
Honorary Colonel.
My dad never talked about the war, and never once wore his medals. He served in the Royal Navy from 1935 to 1946. He was very scornful of Remembrance Sunday. He never went out at all on that day. I asked him many times why he took that stance, and his only reply was "Nah". So there we are folks! I hardly knew about his war service. Hardly at all.

So Capt. Tom deserves his knighthood just for his war service in my opinion. However, I think it's sad that the charities who benefitted from his walk, did so from the efforts of 100 yr old veteran. The govt should hold it's head in shame. Instead, they give him a knighthood for doing what they should have done in the first place.
Here, here! 10 Clarion St.. If not for that generation and their stoic invincibility and for the ones who followed and rebuilt the country, we would not have the benefits we have today - and some of the younger generation should bear that in mind.
Capt. Tom (or is it Major Tom now), is taking a Knee on Friday. Well done for supporting diversity, and hopefully your carers will get you back to upright very promptly.
Surely he won't be expected to kneel Gromit?
Lovely news - can't wait to see it on TV.
