you should have an icon on your tool bar that runs along the top with a picture of lines and an up and down arrow on it. If you run your cursor over it, it will say 'line and paragraph spacing'. Click on that and select the spacing you want.

Look under 'Paragraph' and alter the 'after' box spacing to 0.
...don't forget to put that on the list, Emmie. :-)

tilly, i am working on the premise that i understand these things,
some hope...
I'd say as above but highlight the text, right click and select paragraph and then have both before and after set at 0 and on the right of that line spacing set to single - that's in proper MS Word though, irrelevant of the Windows version.

after much searching, i found it, its a lot more complicated than my old laptop. thanks for the advice.
Thanks for BA, emmie. It won't seem complicated once you get used to it. Like everything, it's easy when you know how. Happy learning.
You'll get there, Emmie. This time next year, probably.

its the whole laptop, i haven't had a new one for 13 years. so this is a completely different kettle of fish. its fun in some way but some simple tasks take an age.
