are you using google photos to store pictures or is it the galaxy's own software?
Email it to yourself would be one way but I find the Google photos is excellent.
if you use google photos, then you just need to log in to your google account on the PC and they will already be available.

Thanks all - I only understand mamya's response!

Problem is, the guy tells me to pick 'Phone companion' from my options - I don't have that on my PC.

Any other help appreciated.
Andy is your phone using google photos? Do you have this icon for when you want to view your pictures on the phone?

Go bottom left of your screen and type - phone companion in there it should come up.

Mamya - // Go bottom left of your screen and type - phone companion in there it should come up. //

It's not there, I guess it's not installed.

Do I need to install it, or is there another really simple way someone else knows about?

If you look up the word 'Luddite', there's a little picture of me next to it!!!
"Do I need to install it, or is there another really simple way someone else knows about? " - yes if you would only respond to my questions.
If it's just the odd photo, I just email it to myself then save in pictures on Windows from there.
Listen to the others Andy, I simply thought this was an easy way.
Plug you mobile into your win 10 laptop or PC what ever transfer anything then or Bluetooth it over
if you have ever downloaded an app, I'm assuming you have, onto an android phone, you have a google account that means you have already on your PC an extremely simple way to do what you want. However you don't seem to want to know, so good luck with the above advice.
Connect your phone to one of the USB slots on the PC and the phone should show up as another drive on the windows file explorer. You can then transfer the photo files in the same way as you'd move another files around. This is what I did, and I didn't need to install anything to do it. You obviously need the right kind of cable to connect though.

I've managed to figure it out now.

Thanks to all for your kind assistance.

TTT - didn't mean to appear to be ignoring you, was in and out and didn't have time to reply to you personally, but thanks again for your input - much appreciated.
