Is Our Foreign Secretary Just Making It Up As He Goes Along?
Is our Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab, fit for purpose when he knows so little about "taking the knee" that he thinks it's to do with Game of Thrones, which features an unrelated concept called "bending the knee"? Bear in mind that he is the Foreign Secretary, the USA is one of our biggest allies and this is a key issue in the USA right now as well as here.
To quote Raab: "I don't know, maybe it's got a broader history, but it seems to be taken from the Game of Thrones. It feels to me like a symbol of subjugation and subordination rather than one of liberation and emancipation."

If he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, he might be better keeping his mouth shut and letting people think he’s a fool, rather than opening it and removing all doubt, as the adage goes.

Taking a knee or taking the knee was a form of protest that originated in American football. Players were obliged to stand for the Playing of American National Anthem before matches.
One player Colin Kaepernick decided to protest by sitting down. A lot of people regarded that as disrespectful, and Kaepernick eventually decided on the kneel instead.
A handful of other black players started to kneel. But it really took off when President Trump said that ALL the kneelers should be fire by their clubs. The next weekend over 200 players knelt.
George R R Martin has no interest in football.

Because there's a difference between you and Raab, TTT. You realise he was demonstrating he knew nothing about it, and he didn't realise that. He made a complete fool of himself. Lucky for him it was a friendly interviewer who didn't take him up on it.

How does that relate to this country? I listened to a young black protestor in London being interviewed and she described black people here as ‘oppressed’. How the hell is she ‘oppressed’? She lives in what is probably the most liberal country in the world and frankly that claim is an insult.
