I'm probably going to get bashed on this as I know I'm not considered much of a pinko.

To me if someone is experiencing violence, especially if sufficient to go to the Police, then as a Nation we have a duty to protect that person. Immigrant or not. Contributions do not come into it in the first instance. Maybe if someone has not contributed sufficient then the bill should be sent to the offending partner and enforced by Court but never should anyone be forced back into a violent situation.

Feelings?

And he’s off! Dinner time for me. I’ll leave the rest of you to it.
How about having some consideration for the person that asked the question, and not ruining their thread.

Naomi has already said she is off for dinner - why don't you avoid ruining the thread by leaving this alone?
Domestic violence respects no boundaries, be they nationality.wealth, religion, sex or any other you could name.

It's universal.

Her comment wasn't there when I made my post, and as I don't want to become part of the problem too, I won't get drawn into a bickering with you, as much as you like the attention.

Indeed it is - when I used the term 'our society', I was referring to people in general.

Another poster who possess a more segmented view of how the world is divided felt the need to demonstrate that view with an irrelevant add-on.

I don't feel the need to qualify ad infinitum every aspect of everything I write, and I don't appreciate it being done for me, and responded in kind.

I trust we are all now back on the thread again.

And to reiterate, your point agrees with mine - it's a tragedy that we have to have these refuges, but they are there and we need to assist them as much as possible.

BTW, I didn't qualify that 'we' as meaning everyone on the planet, can we take that as read? Thanks.

Delighted to hear it - there is nothing so ironic as you and others queuing up to derail threads by accusing me of doing it!
Has anyone bothered to read my answer as to why refuges are necessary? Sniping seems to take priority at the moment, O.K..

I read your post, and I am sorry for your dreadful experiences.

However, I have more direct experience closer to home to rely on, so I already knew what refuges were for before I read of yours.
I’m late to the thread so couldn’t respond earlier to Jourdain.
I was very sad to read of your troubles, jourdain.
Refuges should be available to all women no matter where they’re from or what they’ve contributed to the state,
Imagine how horrendous it would be to pluck up your children with nothing else and be turned away.
