Deliveroo. How Does It Work?

Used it a couple of times since I discovered they deliver from Marks and Spencer. Do riders just wait at home and see if jobs come up? Do they get paid per job?

During 'normal times', my Sunday evening visit to a pub in Ipswich requires me to walk past the entrance to Ipswich's Buttermarket shopping centre, where there are lots of food outlets (such as Byron, Wagamama, etc). There are nearly always several Deliveroo riders waiting outside, ready to leap into action on their bikes as soon as they get a message on their phone apps.

Deliveroo uses a 'fee per delivery' model, with all their staff engaged on a self-employed basis. See 'Fees and kit', here:
