Re the rules on lockdown for the over70 — are they allowed to go shopping for food? A couple next door go once a week to a supermarket and get enough supplies to last the week and that is their only outing. They keep in good health

True New Judge. Him indoors usually does our shopping. I can't get to any shops unless he takes me. Out in the sticks and no public transport. I don't drive any more. We rely on him or food deliveries. I haven't shopped for clothes or household stuff for years. I just hate shops! I think women are meant to love shops.
PP, I always thought Newton Heath was a very posh area. Well, compared to where we lived in Ancoats it was: a small abattoir with blood pouring into the street, 50 yards from our front door; potato wharf directly opposite our house, and all the mushy gubbins that went with it; Fyffes banana warehouse next to the abattoir, with all the rotten bananas strewn around the gaff; Thompson St goods yard constantly on the go 24 hrs a day. It was heaven!

And after all that, and having read all of the replies on this thread, I am more convinced than ever that the lockdown is an unnecessary load of cobblers!
