P. S twisted bowel or other intestinal blockages without vomiting are extremely uncommon in babies.

Thankyou so much for all advice given x they have spoke with the doctor who didnt seem too concerned as baby hadn't been constipated for 7 days, and suggested a little boiled cool water.
I dont know how i feel about his advice after reading some of the comments here.
His mum started breastfeeding, with formula as she wasnt producing very much.
I think if he's no better tomorrow then ill insist on him seeing the doctor.
Mum and dad have been trying gentle massaging his tummy and moving his little legs.
I've never wanted to see a poo more in my life.
Again thankyou x
As mentioned previously it is easy to make a mistake with formula measurements. The powder must be flat with the top of the scoop. Also does the formula have extra iron as this can constipate

What a disturbing statement suggesting that after a consultation with a medical practitioner you are allowing the comments made by on medically qualified personal, cloud your beliet in medical advice.
Continue with a warm bath and gentle tummy massage in a clockwise direction and the bicycling movement of his legs.

My breastfed babies could go 55/6 days without opening their bowels but you will need to address the pain aspect if this doesn't work after a day or two more.

(not medically qualified advice from me)
5/6 days , sorry - sticking key.

Thankyou mamyalynne x
Sqad, i always appreciate your advice, i appreciate everyone's advice x Maybe i should have just waited until the doc rang, he was supposed to ring at 6 that made it feel like a long day, they couldn't get hold of their midwife and were a bit panicked being first time parents.
They did ring 111 who took details but as of now they're still waiting for a call back.
I just wondered if anyone had a baby with the same problem and what they'd tried so we could try while waiting.
Much thanks to all x
Jonah...... I quite understand says sqad pushing his Zimmer frame ahead of home and muttering under his breath.

Haha, i imagine we can be hard work on here for you sqad x
LOL.... not really jonah, over the years there has been good advice from health professionals past and present.
Health visitor. Not an uncommon problem .
Formula milk (even properly measured) is harder to digest than breastmilk, so if he has recently be introduced to it (not sure if that's what you meant?) That could be why. I think ringing the health visitor is a good idea, cooled, boiled water and warm oil massage on his tummy until then.
With all babies we should take into account the very hot weather recently .
