I am lucky to live in a beautiful city that seems a million miles away from London in many respects. We have crime and murder but serious crime is minimal.

I found this article interesting, maybe there is hope

It is interesting, wolf. I wouldn't hold your breath ( just yet ) on the stabbings etc stopping just yet though. Gang culture is very difficult to break.
As a former Cop working and living in London it was and still is the pits and getting worse.Yes. You are fortunate to live where the so called Boney Emm's wonderful melting pot' does not exist.I am out of here as soon as. What do they call it? The 'White Exodus' I believe.
Retro, it was Blue Mink that did Melting Pot. Boney M did Brown Girl in the Ring and others. Not that it distracts from what you are saying.:-) I must admit I didn't realise the situation was getting worse in London. We haven't heard much about 'other news' lately.
Gangs are oil and water, always have been , will a pandemic have had any lasting effect in quelling them?

I hope but somehow doubt it..
we have over 300 gangs in London, and no it's not getting better at all.
Im live in central London, her majesties finest have no chance with their ongoing PC softly softly approach...this is why these vermin are proliferating...yes, weve always had gangs but not like the sort and on the scale we have now..innit....
What's Mr Khan doing about it?
khan khant do nuffink 'cos hes useless...
To be fair to the Police, on this one their hands are tied. We all know a lot of gangs in London are non white (not all but a lot). Feeling the collar of anyone with a tint of anything is a no-no if you value your career.

It's up to the populations of these places to stand up and back the correct policing, and yes that does mean stop and search and it does mean if you ae in a predominantly black or Asian area more of that background will be searched just as more whites would, or should, be searched in a white gang area.

i'm sure the liberal left on here will be along shortly to hang me from the rafters.
Over 20 years ago I decided that London was not for mead that I did not recognise it as anything akin to my life (and I lived in Bradford at the time!). We had to go to the place in about 2010 to visit OH's ghastly daughter (champagne socialist with teeth and no manners, she did not mince her words about how much she dislikes me when talking to her 'Darling Dad'). Anyway, that apart, I was really surprised about how much I disliked the place. I never, ever want to go again.

Our French friends used to say 'Paris, c'est ne pas la France' and I could only respond that 'Londres, c'est ne pas l'Angleterre'. I persuaded many of them to give it a miss except for the big tourist bits. In other words I'm not qualified to respond to this post, except to say that those outside London regard it with horror and a place to avoid. It used to be an ambition to go there.
The gangs have moved from London and are now plying their trade in Stoke.
London is like the world. If you live in one of the nice bits, well done, you're very lucky. If you live in one of the horrible bits, oh dear, that's very sad - move if you can.
Diversity has a lot to answer for.
so it has David, so it has.

i live in a nice area, but that doesn't mean there aren't gangs out there...
