I bought a Huawei Band but can't seem to download the Huawei Health app on my S10. I've googled how to do this and it says to download the Huawei App Gallery which I did, then the Mobile Services which I did, but the message I keep getting is that I need version 4.4 of something or other.

I've uninstalled all of them, gone back to the App Gallery to download again and it is now showing 'This type of file may harm your phone. Only download this file if you trust the source'.

Any ideas or will I have to return the band if not compatible with S10/Android?

Where did you download Huawei AppGallery from? If it was from Google Play Store, there are countless comments here (from people who've been experiencing exactly the same problems as you) suggesting that the download from there is out of date:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.huawei.health&hl=en_GB&showAllReviews=true

The latest version (10.3.0.301) has to be downloaded from here:

If that doesn't work, it's probably time to return the band.
That's probably android 4.4...kitkat...which is no longer supported by Google...according to my googling.

I clicked on the 2nd link, Chris, and went to download and it still gave the same message re harming my phone.
The US Government has banned all US companies, including Google, from trading with Huawei. So Huawei can't get its apps onto Google Play Store. Further, since Huawei AppGallery is effectively an alternative to Google Play Store (in that it's a repository of downloadable apps for Android devices, without any involvement from Google), it's not something that Google would be very happy with promoting anyway.

In order to get around the problems caused by the US trade ban (which would otherwise leave its own Android phones without any app store for users to download from, since they can't include Google Play Store on them), Huawei has set up its own subsidiary, called Huawei Mobile Services:
https://huaweimobileservices.com/

If you click on 'AppGallery' from that link, and then on 'Install AppGallery', you'll be taken to my second link above, which is PERFECTLY SAFE. However your phone is configured to warn you if you try to download anything from anywhere other than Google Play Store, so that's why you're seeing a warning message. You can safely IGNORE it and continue with the download.

Thanks Chris, I'll have a go.

Fingers crossed it doesn't mess up my phone.

I've gone into AppGallery and it won't let me click on download now whereas it did before.
I'm getting lost!

I assume that you've opened Huawei AppGallery, searched for 'Huawei Health' (or something similar), found what you want and you're trying to get the 'Install' button to work. If it's not doing so, that might suggest that, from what you've done previously, your phone thinks that the app is already installed. If so, you'll need to go into Settings > Apps to uninstall what's already there and then try again.

Ooops! Sorry, I meant the mobile services app. I went in from your link and clicked app gallery but it won't let me download the gallery
Hmmm.

I can't see why clicking on the blue 'Download' link won't work. All I can think of, regretfully, is that the AppGallery will only work with Huawei's own phones. Sorry!

So it might be time to return the band :(

[PS: I found this review on Amazon, which suggest that you're not alone in having problems: https://ibb.co/0ZJjFYQ ]

Very frustrating! Looks like I am going to have to return it :o(

Thanks

Gonna see if there are any similar devices available that are compatible with phone.
Well-respected sites, such as AndriodAuthority, TechRadar, TomsGuide, TechAdvisor, etc, universally praise this fitness tracker as offering exceptional value for money for its low price (and the 3000+ reviews on Amazon seem to concur too):

Worth a look, perhaps?

Looks good Chris. Might order and give it a go so hope the app is easy to download.

I nearly got a Huawei P30 last year but didn't want to get sucked into all the issues surrounding it.
