Enamel Paint - Oops

I had a brainstorm and painted my worn looking outside garden bench. The wooden slats were ok but I used enamel paint I found in garage on the metal legs and sides. Now more than 24 hours later and when I lifted one of the armrests a very faint colour was left on my hand. So, maybe this wasn't so smart an idea. Should I leave it, paint over it with "hammerite" or find a varnish to cover enamel paint. I was so pleased with myself, what is the saying, "pride comes before...."
Thanks for assistance.

If it was faint colour left on your hand, rather than proper wet paint, then I think it will cure in the end, although old paint does have a tendency to remain tacky. If it not 100% dry by the end of the weekend, then buy a sealant in aerosol form and spray it all over. Something like ....

I'd wait a while longer Carol, it may just be the temperature stopping the paint from setting completely, especially if you've slapped it on a bit.
Asked hubby & he says it should dry within 4 days. Please don't take this as gospel!!! :-)
We once laid a cork tiled floor in the kitchen, sealed it with some sealant and went away for a weekend. It still hadn’t dried when we got back. Had to take the whole lot up and start again.
