re my problem with sewing machine lamps I am pleased to say that new one has now been delivered and I can see the light.

Shoota - I now have a dim lamp (kept the old one just in case) and a bright lamp.

I'm happy person. It didn't take much to please me.

Love happy people
Well done, lady j. What type of lamp is the new one.
Question mark?
Did you order form the makers of the sewing machine, I do know it was your late Mam's or did you get it from a stockist, I know Drummonds are great, my friend gets her machine bits and bobbins from there
I'm pleased you're pleased, milady.

(Easy to please ladies are my favourite... ;-)

It's an LED lamp. Ordered from internet.

Sewing machine is swiss but I've still got the old lamp just in case.
The other lamp I bought locally but was very disappointed that lasted such a short time. I know the machine was expensive when my mother bought it but I've given it a clean out and some oil and it is so quiet and smooth even after all these years.

Never heard of Drummonds Ducksie.

Not always Shoota. Cheeky. I like men who are easy to please.
I'm delighted LJ, Sewing machines can last ages when cared for,my sisters have machines and they just love them and my friend like I nsaid gets all her accessories for her machines from that company cos they are able to source what she needs, as for me - I can barely thread a needle but do enjoy the girls sewing and am always mesmerised by it
I won't give a link LJ as I am not advertising, just saying - they are great

Apart from this lamp I haven't had to get anything as it came with its own little tool box with screw drivers and all necessary feet and fully comprehensive instruction book, spare needles. Everything. I'm pleased to say.

Thanks Ducksie. I'll pas that on to friends who sew.
I don't know whether I'm happy that our two trees haven't fallen down.....or unhappy that they still might.

My Pfaff light went out. All the experts in the county couldn't fix it but I managed for years with a separate light until I found a one man machine fixer who did what the experts couldn't.
I did buy another Pfaff....my favourite machine...thinking...one in UK and one in Ireland but now both are in Ireland with working lights and I'm delighted....doesn't take much to please me either.... :-)
Good news! Little things make me happy too - and my Swiss sewing machine is still going strong after over 40 years. Only ever needed a new treadle because when I was in France I was using it on a hard, tiled floor and it was getting on a bit.
