I understand, when leading up to elections etc.. there are phrases and lies, constantly pushed in our faces to persuade us to vote. Now, we have a cross party crisis (A pandemic) and we have Gove just spouting what ever he thinks people want to hear, then he contradicts himself.

This government is dangerous, this man is dangerous. Time for a cull, me thinks.

No wonder my daughter, and others like her, are anxious about returning to work. "Yes we can guarantee safety." followed very closely by, "None of us can guarantee safety." Clear as mud.

Then 'guarantee' is the wrong word.

This is what happens when they look to shut down questioning with a soundbite.
It's not like they're paying by the word, explain clearly.
Yes, that's what I said earlier. When being probed by an experienced interviewer one should always avoid a yes/no answer to such questions. Gove shouldn't have made that mistake. He forgot the old trick of starting with "So..." He should have used just the longer answer that he actually followed up with.
There seems to be a virus infecting some people in this country - and it’s not Corvid-19. It’s one that eradicates all common sense, inducing instead an irresistible urge to nit-pick and dissect every word that anyone says. Sadly it is an affliction for which there is no known cure.
I agree, Naomi. In normal circumstances any reasonable person would know you can never guarantee anything is perfectly safe, but Gove should have been more careful knowing that people do look to pick holes in what politicians say
I hope they remember fire drills, and lockdown procedure against criminals.
Gove needs more dancing lessons. 9.47 I nearly fell of my chair when I read your statement, ( dissect every word that anyone says) and you don't do this do you? 24/7 :0))))
Only nearly, teacake? You never come across as that balanced to me. Well done.

If we were to take what gove said and not nit pick it, then that makes it even worse. Nit picking at it if anything you may see what they mean. Because what he has said, makes no sense because it contradicts itself.

If we take it for face value, the guy resembles a silly fish.
