My speakers for PC have started playing the Captain Pugwash theme song for no reason I can think of (yes I'm old enough to remember Pugwash). What on earth is going on, I've tried various troubleshooting but am a loss. Would appreciate any help and please in terms a novice computer can handle. Many many thanks.

Pirated software?
Well, kipper me capstans- I've never heard of that before.
Does it happen all the time or just when you switch on?
(Best answer for 198kHz)
Question Author
Yes, 198kHz, very funny - but not helpful.

fiction-factory - yes it's on all the time, it's very annoying.
Have you checked all your open tabs to see if it's playing in one of them?
Question Author
Yes Lie in King, it plays on everything and even under any audio I choose to listen to.
Turn the speakers off.

Thanks Tilly2 - that's a bit of a hammer to crack a nut solution.

Some websites (especially the BBC) have autoplay on videos. Could a video be running in a tab?
If you close *all* your open apps & browsers, can you still hear it?
Question Author
Ah, well, (embarrassed silence here), forgot to close down a bingo tab and I now have peaceful speakers. (I did mention I was a novice) but can't tell you how much I appreciate all your input and for sheer comical genius a best answer to 198kHw

Sorry about that, but it was too much to resist!
Glad to hear you got it sorted. :)
