anyone any suggestions?
France was added because they afforded us a parallel facility. Ireland, probably because they are a small population with access to the UK anyway.

more probably so those who arrive by rubber boat can't be arrested.
Ireland has unrestricted access to the UK under the "Common Travel Area" (along with Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man). It also has a land border with the UK which is unpoliced.
It includes all the Channel Islands, not only Guernsey and Jersey.

Actually it includes the "Crown Dependencies". These are the Isle of Man and the Bailiwicks of Jersey and Guernsey. The Bailiwick of Guernsey encompasses Alderney, Herm and Sark.

However, I am being pedantic and together we digress! :-)
Does our apparent willingness to accommodate entries from Dublin without checks encourage travellers to use Dublin as a hub to avoid scrutiny, and does it encourage Ireland to be less than honest about it's intentions?
