More Stupid People Not Listening To The Advice.
No wonder our death toll is going up when people cant listen to simple advice.

Your first answer to this thread sums up the title of it. Health workers are more at risk from it in work because of people ignoring the advice given and ending up in hospital because they ignore it but some can't see this and some never will.

I am so bored of hearing the ‘experts’ on AB spouting statistics. Notwithstanding my boredom, here’s a decent statistic - as of two days ago less than 250 people under the age of 45 had died. Of those, we do not know how many had an underlying condition. So about 0.0004% of the population under 45 have died. No matter how the spin is spun, this is a tiny percentage.
As sad as it is that people have died, the simple fact of the matter is that the economy is more important than a few lives. I know how that sounds, and I don’t like saying it, but it’s true; the economy is more important. It just is. And anybody who thinks it isn’t doesn’t have the foresight to appreciate what a knackered economy will mean for all of us.
I have heard on AB that some people remain scared, well fine, let those that don’t have the mental fortitude to stay in purdah, but for those of us who are mentally more robust, let us go about our business.
I’m more than happy to run the risk.

It could be because his posts, whilst they may not concur with everybody's point of view, were simply portrayed a different point of view. As a result he is accused of saying things he didn't: e.g. "you are happy to see old people die". I didn't see that written. I've been accused of similar sentiments. Equally falsely.
I also believe that no enough regard is being given to the economy. I was subsequently accused of wishing the deaths of millions of people. It's really uncalled for and not nice. We don't all thing the same way, but because we don't it doesn't mean we're uncaring bar stewards.

I appreciate that you and others are happy to run the risk, but I don't know what you expect would happen...and I am honestly trying to understand what those against lockdown think would happen if say the City of London went back to work. Would you expect few extra cases, a mass of cases for a short period, or what?

If you run the risk that's fine. If you put others at risk while doing so that isn't.
It's true that there's a massive skew towards older people dying of Covid-19 currently. I'm not sure that's enough to justify easing lockdown, on the basis that most people under 45 don't appear to die of this even when they do catch it. There is always the possibility that the picture will change in another month, and indeed the further the virus spreads the greater the chance that there is such a change (on the grounds that such a change would require a mutation, an viral mutations are more likely to occur if there are more viruses and more people infected).

the answer is - mutation is usually taken as 1 in 10 to 5
RNA viruses mutate faster - no I wont tell you why - and the chinese have published a few genomes and there is not much variation
a lot of inonsistency and loose thinking around
no one knows if there is immunity or not and yet they are trying passive immunity ( plasma transfer) experiments
and
a vaccine is not in sight and probably impossible
and yet that doesnt stop around 50 firms trying
so not surprisingly people dont know which way the wind is blowing today
