It's over two years since I last compiled a crossword for ABers to try their hand at but, knowing that one or two of you might be looking for something to overcome the boredom of being cooped up, I've had another go today.

General notes for the uninitiated: My crosswords are non-cryptic (because I've not got the brains to compile cryptic ones) but hopefully still not too easy. They're loosely based upon The Times 2 Jumbo Crosswords, that are published in the newspaper every Saturday, in that they use a 23 by 23 grid, with slang terms and colloquialisms sometimes appearing in the answers (and, annoyingly for some, NOT thus indicated in the clues).

After about seven hours working at this crossword, I realised that there were insufficient crossers for 9d and 34d. Faced with a choice of throwing the whole thing away and starting again or simply filling in a couple of letters to make things a bit easier for you, I opted for the latter. I hope that this won't annoy the purists too much!

It's a two-page PDF file that should hopefully print out easily for completion. Any takers?

Please see my post at 1330, JB9, for advice about printing out the pdf file.
As an aside, when you are just printing using black, I have noticed that you can really save ink by clicking on "gray scale" and "draft" in the "preferences" box prior to printing.
Related to the above, I have a colour LaserJet but rarely need to print in colour. A tip a mate shared with me years ago was to set up an "extra" printer, set it as B/W and make it the default printer. Saves a noticeable amount of toner.
Have the Answers been given yet for this crossword? Thank you.
Retro I thought this post meant he had done another crossword. What a disappointment!!

I might try to compile another one soon, Caran, but it was beginning to look as if you were the only one doing them!
Sorry Caran
I finished it about 8-9 days ago but my wife wanted to know. She gave up but decided to have another stab at it and asked if my answers were correct.
Thanks Chris. I'll see how I got on. I know you put considerable effort into it but am looking forward to your next one.

Thanks, Seekeerz.

Try not to swear too loudly when you get stuck ;-)

[Note that there's a link at 0102 above to an even bigger one!]
I'll come back for that one later, and thanks again xx
thanks chris - I have been picking this up and putting it down in between trying to work and teach a recalcitrant 8 year old maths. I finally gave up today with the 8 I couldn't get and looked at your answers
