Not good - our troubled times today remind me of what it was like in the old days of the Troubles here.

Our city of Belfast is now a ghost town, just what it was like in 1970s, 80s and some of the 90s.

When we had the time curfews reminds me of that when Maxie and I go out for our nightly walk. Anybody who is out is scurrying by in case of Covid contact. When curfew was on we had to scurry back home too.

When we wanted to go out, we were searched and frisked on the way in to

hotel, club, dance

sometimes on the way there - we were constantly stopped and frisked again.

with all the bombs going off - one didn't know if one would get home safely

- if we wanted to go shopping we had to queue at many of the gated entrances into Belfast and searched and frisked again.

Now Queuing up at the shops although no access to hotels, clubs or dances and not knowing who the next person will be hit by Covid 19.

So that's what it feels like to me - the Troubles again. Didn't think I'd see those days again.

Thanks for replying. "We'll get through" - says who.

Like right now at just quarter past 10 - the dreaded helicopters are out - hovering, hovering, hovering. Why?

It never goes away.
the dreaded helicopters are out - hovering, hovering, hovering. Why?

Usually when it's the police helicopters their tracking some sort of criminal ( car thieves etc ), jj.
I am near a ring road, we get the Police helicopter over many a night.

Sorry if my hopeful comment wasn't what you needed JJ.

oh Mamy - you and Tonya-v's comments were very welcome.

They were the only replies after all - not that I asked any question.

but thanks all the same.
You must have felt safer entering places where you were 'frisked'.
