I’m not sure if it’s true. I also heard it on the radio, but I think it was just speculation. TC is known for doing his own stunts and I think the broadcaster was wondering if he’d do his own ISS shots. I can’t imagine he’d be allowed to.
The story originates from a Tweet by Jim Bridenstine. He's an authoritative figure in such matters, in that he's got his own blog on the NASA website ( https://blogs.nasa.gov/bridenstine/ ). However, as of yet, there's been no official confirmation (or, indeed, denial) of the news from NASA itself.

I believe any off-planet excursions need to be cleared by the high heidyins at Hubbard Central to avoid any Battlefield Earth shenanigans.
Sounds a bit unlikely. Filming weightlessness isn't exactly new - Apollo 13 for example - so surely it would be many times cheaper to just build a simulation of the ISS and hire a vomit comet for the weightless bits.
