We blow our trumpet about having two of the biggest aircraft carriers QEs, and the F-35 stealth fighter jets on board, along with the best high tec equipment ever, at a cost of around six billion. Yet we're on our hands and knees begging China and Turkey for basic PPE to protect the very people we need to care for us should we fall victim to the virus.
Just goes to show how useless arms are against a germ. Still can't get my head round why we have the ability to produce such mind blowing equipment, but a sewing machine, and a little labour is so difficult to come by.

In 2003 in Iraq, six military policemen were murdered by a mob. They each had only fifty rounds of ammunition, no radios, and no back up. Meanwhile at home, our politicians were claiming expenses for duck islands, moats, taxis and second homes, along with everything that they hoped would satisfy their greed. A shortage of PPE comes as no surprise.

I know all about the shortage in other countries, so accept that everyone sooner or later will find it hard to keep up with the demand, however, we started of with already low stocks, plus out of date stocks, and that's all down to government management, everyone has been blaming managers at hospitals on here, and its nothing to do with them, what the national stock levels are, they have no input.
teacake, let's see you stand as Minister for Procurement and watch you screw things up, as I bet you would, Hot air and no substance...or as a Texan would say, 'All hat and no cattle'.

21.10, some people get through life with their head in the sand, normally because they can't face reality, or the real truth hurts to much. They hope if they ignore what's happening it will somehow go away. Sorry but unless you fight for what is right and wrong, and be prepared to speak up, everyone else will do has they please, and walk all over you, In this case hospital staff have lost their lives due to dreadful miss-management of this government. Where else in the world have (so many) doctors and nurses lost their lives? and the population.
TC - Can you explain how you, personally, are going to ‘fight for what is right and wrong, and be prepared to speak up’? Or you talking out of your *** again?
The NHS staff would only need to mention a 24 hr strike and all the PPE would be in the stockroom before the next update.
Not unless Harry Potter got involved!

Where else in the world have they lost so many doctors and nurses in fighting covid. No answers then? All due to the lack of PPE, no stocks held, and what stock there was, was duff.
The numbers currently aren't up to speed and this is almost 2 weeks old - but serves as an example.

Teacake, //Where else in the world have they lost so many doctors and nurses in fighting covid. //

Do we know how many have been lost elsewhere?
