He was once a successful television presenter. What type of mental illness, that's if he is ill, would have brought him to where he is today?

I doubt if he's "ill", he just has bonkers ideas. There are plenty of people out there who believe the "moon landings" were actually faked by Stanley Kubrick.

When you look at Icke's career after leaving his role as a sports presenter, it is difficult not to see him as a ranting idiot - although obviously there are people who agree with him, principally because no matter how outrageous the imagination can be, you can find someone to agree with you.

Unsurprisingly, none of his 'prophesies' have yet come to pass.
I suspect he has suffered some form of breakdown, and his retreat from reality has been his way of dealing with it.
