The lockdown has seen the end of problems of drunkenness in the city centres, and doubtless these will return if normal service is resumed.
Should the government retain some measures to curtail night life in our city centres, to reduce crime, and reduce the number of people being scraped off the streets by paramedics, to become a burden on the NHS?
If so, what and how?

Theland - // That is understandable, but punishes responsible social animals. //

A popular, but in my view specious argument.

I can drive my car safely at speeds higher than the speed limit. I have been driving for nearly fifty years, I know what I am doing.

But I completely accept that the safety measures in place are not there to 'punish' me, but to save others from themselves, and attendant damage and death.

In an adult society, I think it reasonable that adults can simply accept that for the good of all, the non-essential consumption of alcohol should be stopped because its effects are unacceptable.
Mexican18 - // Andy, it seems like you are advocating prohibition. It hasn't worked with drugs and remember what happened in America! //

I am speaking entirely in theoretical terms for the purposes of debate - I am aware that simple practicalities prevent my vision from ever becoming reality, but it remains my vision, nonetheless.

// Were you ever young or have you always been miserable? //

I was young once, and I am not miserable in the slightest.
Mexican - // You don't like football or pubs, perhaps we should join Theland in Bible classes! //

Just because I don't like football or pubs does not mean that I think the world should only enjoy what I like, and ban everything I don't like.

I spent my entire social life in my teens and early twenties in pubs, and although I don't like football, I am married to a fanatical season ticket holder.

Oh, and I don't like superior Christians either, so I don't mix with them!

It's rare that I am stuck for words ...
Fat belly slobs!
Are you mad?
Have you ever been to a football match?
There is a God then...
I'm going. I can see myself becoming rude!
Sleep tight every one.
