The parent company of Shearings Coach company are on the brink of collapse. The administrators are on standby. What is the procedure for those with cancelled holidays now? Wait for instructions? Contact the administrators once they are formally in post? Claim refund from Credit card company?

If you've paid more than £100 by credit card you can ALWAYS demand a refund from the card company if you don't get the goods or services that you expected to receive. It doesn't matter one jot as to whether the firm you entered into a contract with has gone bust or is still trading and making record profits. The law gives you the right not to even bother trying to get your money from that company and go DIRECTLY to the credit card company to get your money back. So that would seem to be your best way forward at the moment.

Otherwise though, as with so many companies that are currently tring to find ways to stay afloat (e.g. Debenhams) all customers can do is 'wait and see'.

Thanks Chris, I'm following this issue on behalf of a relative who doesnt use the internet. Having not claimed a refund from a credit card company before, I didnt know how hard you would have to try for a refund from the company first, but you suggest not very hard at all? I might just head down that road then.

The holiday is definitely cancelled regardless of their solvency or lack of it.
Oh dear. Refer to my ,I was going away with shearings on the 6 th April, thread. This does not look good.

Did you hear anymore from Shearings Tam? Where are you in terms of communication or potential refund?
You'll be fine if the trip was bought on a credit card (not a debit card), although it can take a bit of work. The other thing to check is travel insurance, especially if it was a debit card that was used.
No Maydup Shearings have not replied to 4 of my communications. I have finally got word today that Tesco will return the holiday money that Shearings overcharged me for hopefully by Monday into my account. I'm not holding my breath.

I think its time we claim the money from the credit card company. Its long winded but the only realistic chance of success.
I recieve d the overpayment the same day I spoke to someone at Tesco credit card. I think I'll call them again in the morning to see if they are able to refund the shearing holiday payment as well. At least they may be able to throw some light on it.
