Sorry to keep harping on about this but the paracetamol I took earlier is wearing off and the pain is back. I found some Voltarol emulgel at the back of a cabinet and some heat patches. Both are out of date but have used them anyway. Neither of them are working. Would it be because they have expired or because they won't work on what I have? It was suggested I may have a frozen shoulder or bicep tendinitis.

Do I get Voltarol 2.32 gel or magic wintergreen rub and more heat patches?

I should add that I'm working and now finding it hard type and use a mouse.

What is the warming muscle gel? Might be able to cancel the Voltarol from Amazon and get that instead.
I am using Bullet & Bone muscle activating rub, got it from Amazon, so hopefully you can do a swap if you think it fits the bill. I am going to try a short walk now, not my usual 5 miles just round the local playing field.

Is it working for you? Does it take the edge of the pain?
yes it does, but I find it works better if I keep moving gently, so my leg does not stiffen up again.

Having read the uses for that I don't think its for me. I need something to reduce the 2 different types of pain I'm experiencing - dull ache with general pain. I've had the dull ache before but never with pain like now.
Question Author
The pain has worsened overnight and I have to use my left hand to move my right arm, type and everything else. The paracetamol and rub have done nothing to ease the pain and I'm nearly in tears.

I'm waiting for a call back consultation from my my surgery.
How did you get on Tiggs, any help from the call back? I've been reading your post with sympathy as also have shoulder pain that radiates right down my arm and even across shoulder blade at times and as it's right arm it stops me doing lots of everyday things at the moment. I've found that voltarol and even painkillers fairly useless although the stick-on heat patches at least make it a bit more comfortable. I know mine is a flare up from an old rotor-cuff injury that at the time was miraculously cured by cortisone injections - but of course that might not work depending on what you've actually done to yourself.

Hi Prudie, I called 111 last night and they sent an ambulance round. The paramedics did their checks and said that I could go to hospital for an x-ray if it was severe pain but I decided to sit it out. Earlier in the day I had a phone consultation with GP surgery who diagnosed a muscle spasm and suggested heat pads, anti-inflammatory gel and ibuprofen. I somehow managed to walk to the nearest pharmacy and got Voltarol, Deep Heat patches and co-codamol.

Used all of them and took co-codamol every 4-5 hours up until 2.30am. I feel a lot better today and my arm is a lot more flexible and I don't have that excruciating pain like I had yesterday. I can type and use my hand as well. There is still some pain there and I'm using the gel and heat patches but don't want to carry on with the co-codamol.
Hi Tiggs, glad it's a bit better, who'd have thought a muscle spasm would cause that much pain. I wonder what sparked it off. Must have been very scary having the paramedics round too. Anyway hope things continue to improve.
Glad you are now getting at least sone relief, it's awful pain I know.

I broke my upper right arm last May and it has never stopped hurting.

Take care Tiggs.
Glad you've had some relief, Tiggs.
Sorry to be so late, tigger but I find Ibroprfen Gel from Savers better.

Hi all

I'm sure I've had muscle spasm before but not with excruciating pain. Basically, my arm completely seized up and any tiny bit of movement sent a shooting pain into my shoulder. Apart from labour pains I've never felt such pain in my life. Even when my stomach ulcer flares up, that's nothing compared to what I had yesterday.

My stomach ulcer did flare up today and I've been chewing on Rennies most of the day and drinking milk. Must've been the Co-codamol that triggered it :o(

I have no idea what sparked it off and yes, it was very scary with the paramedics round. Don't recall ever calling for an ambulance before and Little Tiggs was quite scared as well. My parents had to come round just in case they took me to hospital.

Mamy, you have my sympathy with your arm :o(

how is it today?
Question Author
Woke up with arm aching and a bit painful this morning, Bednobs. Applied the anti- inflam gel and a heat patch and the pain eased off so was able to work. Will continue to do this until full recovery and movement :o)

I just hope I never get the same pain I had on Tuesday. That was unbearable :o(
it sounds just like my bicep tendonitis i had years ago - i had to move my arm with my other hand, sling did not help, rest was excruciating, moving it hurt. Pain was in mid upper arm
Question Author
Very probable Bednobs. I had excruciating pain under the collar bone by the arm socket as well as arm. That's where I put the heat pad.
