I understand that many of you will tell me to consult a doctor but with the way thinhs are at the moment I feel that I am just over worrying.
I am a healthy 48 year old male with no underlying health conditions and a fortnight ago I was furloughed.
I do smoke but only 10 cigarettes a day.
Since I have been off I have an ache (no real pain) in my mid to upper back. I have had absolutely no coronavirus symptoms at all but remembering my anatomy from school do realise that my lungs are in that area.
Maybe it has just been inactivity and it does not feel like a strain. More like a chill.
Just wondered if anyone else had seen anything about back pain being a symptom of this awful disease ?
Many thanks

I think your guess is more likely, a period of inactivity and maybe lounging around, try some simple stretches.

Thankyou. Will try some stretching. Seems to be between shoulder blades. Will go for a decent walk after dinner.
No, back pain is not a documented presenting symptom. However, confusion is and that was the first symptom my uncle had. His GP kept telling him it was just a UTI but now he's in ITU with Covid-19.

Your back pain is most likely due to inactivity. Take Paracetamol and see if it responds.
Are you adopting any posture for long periods that is unusual for you, like say hunched over a laptop?
Question Author
Many thanks. No I'm not stuck over a computer or in any one position. I'm so sorry to hear of your uncle's condition LadyCG. Hope his health improves.
